The Main Factors For Choosing Fiber Optic Adapters

Due to the wide variety of fiber optic adapters and the similar appearance of fiber optic adapters supplied by different suppliers, you may not know how to choose. Generally speaking, when choosing a fiber optic adapter, you should consider the following two points.
Types of cables to be connected
If the cable type and connector that the fiber optic adapter needs to connect to are the same, a fiber optic adapter with square, rectangular, or circular interfaces can be used. If the types of cables to be connected are different, a hybrid fiber optic adapter is required, which can connect any two types of fiber jumpers together. Due to the wide variety of hybrid fiber optic adapters, it is important to clarify what type of cable needs to be connected before purchasing.
The material of the fiber optic adapter alignment sleeve
The alignment sleeve is the most important component in fiber optic adapters. Some manufacturers choose metal as the material for the alignment sleeve, but it has been proven that fiber optic adapters made of ceramic have much better performance than those made of metal. This is because the crystal structure of ceramic is very hard and will not deform over time like metal materials, so it can achieve fast alignment and high-precision fiber end face connection.
Cleaning methods for fiber optic adapters
Although fiber optic adapters are relatively small and belong to small components in fiber optic cabling, this does not affect their important position in fiber optic cabling systems, and like other fiber optic equipment, they need to be cleaned. There are two main cleaning methods, namely dry cleaning and wet cleaning.
1. Dry cleaning: First, insert a dry cleaning rod into the fiber optic adapter and rotate it for cleaning before removing it. Then align the cleaning rod with the sleeve to clean the connector inside the fiber optic adapter and check if there is any contamination on the end face of the connector.
2. Wet cleaning: First, dip a cleaning rod into the fiber optic cleaning solution, insert the wet cleaning rod into the adapter, and rotate the cleaning rod towards the surface of the sleeve. Then, take a dry cotton swab to clean the connector inside the fiber optic adapter, and check if there is any contamination on the connector end face.
